All About Septic Systems and Septic Tank Maintenance

FAQs   |   Links

Your Septic System Needs to Be Maintained!

In the same manner that a properly maintained vehicle will last longer and operate more efficiently, your septic system should be regularly maintained as well.

People that do not take the time to do routine, scheduled maintenance on their cars often discover that "breakdown" maintenance extremely inconvenient AND expensive!

It is much cheaper and far more comfortable to routinely maintain your septic system then waiting until you have a problem!

Every Septic System Should Have Risers Installed

A septic system riser is an addition that installs on the inlet and outlet sides of the tank.

Septic system risers provide easy access to the septic tank at the ground level.

This will save you money in the long run, because it will eliminate the cost to dig up the tank for pumping or maintenance.

Does Your Septic System Have a Distribution Box?

If the answer is yes, then that should have a riser, also!  We often see that the distribution box has settled and needs maintenance or it has been invaded by roots that must be removed.  It could be cracked or weakened by gases or salt air.

Having a riser on this component provides easy access for regular maintenance and inspection and will therefore reduce your costs because it will eliminate the need to dig for inspection.  (A "D-box" must be inspected as a part of a certified inspection.)

Septic Pumping and Certified Septic Inspections are Not the Same Thing

Septic system pumpers must be licensed to pump, but they are usually NOT licensed inspectors.  We are the only licensed inspectors / installers / pumpers in Clallam County.

certified inspector must be licensed by Clallam County Environmental Health as a Operation and Maintenance Provider.  (We are).  You must also be licensed and bonded.  (We are)

A certified inspection includes a complete and total system inspection, covering all components of your septic system, from the tank to the drain field and everything in between.

Upon completion, you will receive a report on the condition of your septic system and we will submit a copy of this report to Clallam County as well.
